Goals for 2014

I'm back! I've been using other blog names for the past 2-3 years and none of them have really stuck to me. With the new year and everything, I wanted to start a new blog. When thinking of a new name, I stumbled upon my older blogs, including this one. I looked at the name and wondered why I ever got rid of it. It's a cute name and I love it. I have no clue why I got rid of this blog. I was going to start off fresh and hide all the old posts. Then I started reading them. I decided to go ahead and keep 100 of my favorite posts so I can go back and read them, reflect, and notice my growth.

The new year is just around the corner and I have plenty of goals, as always. Hopefully this year will be different and not just another year full of empty promises and broken goals. I decided to scrap my goals for my 101 challenge and start fresh with that challenge as well. I won't be creating a post for it on this blog, but you can find my list at the day zero project site here. The challenge will be from Jan 3, 2014 to Sept 30, 2016. The end date is my dad's birthday. Another project I will be doing is Project Life. I'm doing mine on a birthday-to-birthday timeline. I've been doing a lot of traveling this year so I've only been able to complete two months' worth of layouts so far. I'll be back home in April, with only one month until the end of my Project Life year. I promised myself that I would finish my first year before the start of my second year. I'm not able to physically complete my layouts before April, so until then, I will map out the layouts with pencil and paper. I will figure out what photos I'm going to use, then edit them and order them. I'll have them sent home and waiting for me when I get there. It's always a bonus to come home with a package waiting for you.

Day Zero also had an area where I can create New Year's resolutions. It's an alternative version to the regular resolutions. Here are my answers to their poll:

  1. Learn how to DIY and remodel
  2. Start exercising three times a week
  3. Stop going to bed after two am
  4. Take a vacation to California and Route 66
  5. Find myself and who I am
  6. Try more slow cooker recipes
  7. Be more productive

With that being said, my One Little Word for this year is Productive. I really want to take Ali's workshop to help me stay focused on my word, but I don't think I will be able to afford it. It's a year-long workshop so I'm sure it will be worth it. But we'll see.

What are your goals for the New Year? Is anyone else doing the 101 challenge, Project Life, or One Little Word?

Project Update

Sooo.. I finally updated my blogwear. Now it looks nice and pretty! I love the new look. I know it's been a while since I've updated and scrapped.. ugh. At the end of last month, I got a new laptop. It's faster, slimmer, and a whole lot better. I finally have a laptop that I can use for Photoshop. Before I had to use a different computer and Photoshop would always crash on me. This laptop is totally different. I was able to complete two LOs tonight and it didn't crash on me at all! :]

I will get to the new LOs soon, but first I wanted to update my projects. I know I'm such a slacker and I hate to admit this, but I haven't started any of my projects. As for P365, I'm throwing it in the bucket. I have been doing something else that similar to it though. My new laptop has a webcam and I use to take, what I call, an almost daily snapshot. I try to take a snapshot everyday but I have missed some days and that's okay with me. Who really needs 365 photos anyway? At the end of every month, I will compile the photos and put it in a LO or 2-pager, depending on the amount of photos. And at the end of the year I probably will pick my favorites and make another 2-pager.

On to the Day Zero Project. I've decided to just update my last list and keep the same date. I figure it's less time to complete the goals. And that makes it more of a challenge, right? I probably will update my list soon, once I figure out what to put on it. I still want to do the 30 day challenge and the Love, Me Project, but I think they will have to wait. Starting too many projects at one time is too much for me at the moment. Right now I'm focusing on getting into and paying for colleges. Personal projects can come later.

Okay, I know I said I was gonna post the LOs but they will have to wait for tomorrow. Good night everyone! :]

The Year of Projects

No resolutions for me this year, I always seem to break them. Instead, this year, I will have goals and projects. My One Little Word for the new year is finance. I've built up some bad credit in the past, and my goals this year are to eliminate most of my debt and to up my credit score. I also have a goal to find a stable job that I will stay at for at least a year. My goals for this year are based on preparing for the future: fixing my credit, getting rid of debt, finding a stable job, investing for the future, and going back to college, among others.

Other than that goal, I have a bunch of projects that I would like to complete this year. This year is gonna have a lot of reflections on my inner self. All of these projects will eventually end up in a scrapbook, but for now, most of them are about looking inside of my self and journaling, a lot. This year really is about me. I'm trying to leave the nest, for good this time. I don't have any kids, no husband, no boyfriend, no attachments. This is the perfect year to focus on me. I also know that I've been a horrible blogger. Hopefully all of these projects will keep my blog updated. Sorry if none of these posts are useful to you other than reading up on my life. This blog is really just going to be a reflection of my life. Here is a list of the projects that I will be joining this year - as of right now. Some are linked to homepages..

  • Project 365 - not exactly sure where this started, so there's no link for it. I tried to start this for 2010, but lost interest by Feb. Hopefully this year will be different. I have simpler goals for this year for this project.
  • Day Zero Project - I started this in the past, back in 2009. I want to re-start this challenge, with new goals and new dates. When I started this project my goals weren't really important and some of them I lost interest in.
  • Live a Better Life in 30 Days Challenge (30DLBL) - I just going to start this is December, but I decided to wait for the new year.
  • Project: Love, Me - This is my only project that will focus a lot of scrapbooking. But it would work for anybody, not just scrapbookers. I just choose to put more scrapbooking detail into this one than the rest.
Let's start this new year with a bang! :]

One Little Word 2010

I absolutely love visiting Ali Edwards' Blog. Her site gives me so much inspiration for my life, especially scrapping and projects. One thing I've decided to do is One Little Word. I won't go into much detail but Ali explains it perfectly here and here. The idea is to choose one word that you will stand by for the whole year. Even though I've only stumbled upon this with only two months left in the year, I decided to start anyway. I really didn't want to wait two months just so I can start something in the beginning of the year. So for the rest of this year, I've decided to choose the word Connect.

One thing I've seemed to be lacking lately is connection. This goes for online communities as well as in person. I hope to blog more, chat more, comment more, email more, talk more.. anything. I hope to once again Connect with the rest of the world. What is your word for this year?
